About

The dike road starts near the Scanlan Lake/Riverside Park Area along Pacific Ave and follows along the bank of the Tongue River until meeting up with the Yellowstone. From there, the road proceeds to follow the bank of the Yellowstone River, crossing Highway 59 via Wells Street, and continuing the bank until ending at N Jordan Ave. The gravel/dirt road is single lane. As mentioned in Interstate Engineering and Peaks to Plains Design 2017 Miles City Long-Range Transportation Plan, “Public feedback related to this plan indicated a desire to capitalize on the Yellowstone River levee reconstruction to integrate a multi-use trail that would provide an outer route around the community”(Interstate Engineering, & Peaks to Plains Design 2017). Designating a walking path along the road would promote an increase in pedestrian safety. Miles City Long-Range Transportation Plan Current Dike Road length: 3.12 mi
